Reflexion - What Makes A Person Magnetic
Have you come across people who you feel have a certain energy or magnetism about them. Sometimes it is hard to put your finger on what gives them that aura. It’s a quality that comes across as authentic and genuine, not fake or from trying too hard. Magnetic people don’t chase approval, they create emotional safety, They make people feel seen, heard, valued and people feel drawn to them without knowing why.
Here are seven behaviours of magnetic people, which is backed by emotional intelligence and neuroscience.
1, Warm eye contact, triggers oxytocin, the bonding chemical, this signals safety to the nervous system. People will relax and feel emotionally safe.
2. Using people’s names, this activates the medial prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that relates to identity recognition builds connection.
3. Microaffirmations, giving soft smiles, or nods. This activates mirror neurons and creates emotional alignment and creates rapport.
4. Being positive, when you show someone you like them first this is reciprocity, their brain mirrors it back. People are drawn to those who make them feel valued.
5. Calm expressiveness, magnetic people aren’t loud, with relaxed hands, open posture and warm tone. This regulates the other person’s nervous system and makes you feel trustworthy.
6. Shared identity cues, using phrases like “I felt like that too” activates in-group bias. Familiarity builds comfort and trust.
7. Curiosity over ego, asking thoughtful questions and actually listening intently is the biggest magnetic superpower. This triggers dopamine in the brain and associates you wth a reward.
