Reflexion - Creating Luck
Reflexion - Creating Luck
By Yvonne Junor
What comes to mind when you think about ‘luck’? Do you agree with the explanation ‘it is the good and bad that happens to a person as if by chance’. I have in the past felt as though luck was both random and controlled by chance that I had little control over. In recent times, psychologists such as Price Pritchett (who has studied human behaviour for decades) has given his own definition of luck. His approach is to transform the perception of luck from a passive mystical concept to an active managable, a quirky phenomenon and highly practical strategy that can be engineered through mindset and action.
Here is a list of qualities that can help create luck in your life!
Most of your lucky breaks will come via someone you know. This can be with people we know very well or others that are less significant contacts. While the stronger contacts in our lives can give us opportunities, sometimes the less significant contacts can provide new and refreshing opportunities. You need to stay in circulation “get out, meet new people and be visible to create new opportunities. Luck favour those who are visible versus those who hide away.
Use your logic but also heed your intuition to assist in decision making and recognising lucky breaks. Be open to serendipity and unseen forces, they are there to help you.
Have an optimistic nature, this gives resilience and strength through challenges. ction Think and speak in positive terms, this alters your interaction with the world and attracts better outcomes.'An optimistic attitude helps you recognise potential ‘lucky breaks’ that other people might miss.
Give yourself a meditative experience everyday, taking a walk, giving your brain a break from problem solving. This gives space for your mind to speak to you. This allows things to come from your unconscious.
Have a generous spirit and extend your luck to others. Whatever label you put on it, ‘karma’, ‘reciprocity’, ‘what goes around comes around’. We will be compensated for how we help others. Being of service and giving is uplifting to you.
Accountability, take ownership of your life, be the victor, not the victim and take a problem solving attitude. Feeling sorry for yourself or helpless is a habit that can create bad luck.
Fortune favours the bold, be prepared to take calculated risks to make the most of opportunities.
Have an open and flexible mindset, luck may present itself in unexpected ways as a surprise or detour, so be open to new possibilites.
Embrace failure, it is a necessary part of the path to success. Maintain an optimistic attitude when facing adversity.
Work ‘smarter’ not ‘harder’, using brute force can be counter productive.
Write down and visualise your goals, to keep them at the forefront of your mind, this activates your subconscious, keeping you open to opportunities.
Always give value first without expecting an immediate return or favour.
